Hemionitis arifolia?
Hi,
I picked up an unusual fern in a 4 inch pot for a good price ($6) in a plant shop near San Jose. It didn't have a tag but the woman at the shop said it is called a heart fern. It seems to fit the description of Hemionitis arifolia, although the one fertile frond has a petiole 17 inches long, which seems a longer than what I am finding.
I'm not able to find much info on this, plant, so if anyone has any general information on growing this plant that would be great. Things such as growth rate, temperature tolerance and propagation would be useful. I've read that plantlets form where the leaf blade meets the petiole. I do see signs of this, but nothing viable at the moment. How do these form and how/when are they detached? Do they form once per leaf, or will they regenerate once removed?
Thanks
