Looks like Dryopteris affinis 'Cristata' a/k/a "Cristata the King", an English cultivar. Another similar one, but with very short pinnae, is Dryopteris affinis 'Cristata Angustata'. said to be a sporeling of the above.

Looks more like Athyrium filix-femina "Victoriae" to me. There's a picture of a very nice specimen on page 113 of my copy of John Mickel's book that you mentioned. I have one of these ferns. It isn't quite as nice a specimen as the book shows, but it looks a lot like your picture. It's one of my favorite ferns...

I think it's an Athyrium called "Dre's Dagger."

I have a victoriae that looks like that.

Btw, I've always wondered what the difference was between victoriae and dre's dagger.. they look exactly the same as far as I can tell.

The shape of the spore cases easily distinguishes Dryopteris from Athyrium.

Thanks for the help. thefreddo, I think you are right. the picture was not that clear but the description was right on mark, especially the description of looking like an X from the tip. Not a bad find from HD, "The Queen of Green" !! Does anyone know how to divide a clumping fern? Would love to spread around.
