Austrialian Tree Fern Cooperi in a pot in cold winter region.

I got a Cooperi Tree Fern, and I want to see if I can grow it for years. It gets way too cold in my region during winter, zone 5B/6A.

I could put it in my connected garage during winter near a window. The temps will rarely reach freezing, but it will be cold during winter. Cold air will blow in, but water doesn't freeze solid in my garage. Would this work?

The other option is bring it in the house... and ferns don't do very well as houseplants in my house. Any suggestions?

I thought I could give it a try, it's my money. I have got a Wollemi I'm growing the same way by keeping in the garage during winter, and it's done okay.
