Birds Nest Fern CPR needed!

I have a very large Birdnest Fern that was growing in a huge pot but the roots finally broke through the plastic so I decided to put the plant in the yard. I found a nice spot that had both sun and shade during the hotest part of the day and well draining soil. I planted the fern and within two weeks the edges of the fronds begain to turn brown. I assumed it was because of the trauma of transplanting so I gave it another few weeks, feeding it once a month with my regular plant food it had received in the pot and always responded to well. Now three months later the plant is producing new fronds but all of them have browned, dead looking edges. A did water with a weak solution of epsom salts, which I treat my Sago Palms for frizzle leaf but with no results. Please help! I don't want to lose this beautiful plant.
