I don't know what it is, but I do know that it's not violet cort, which if felt-like on top.

Was it growing on woody debris? I'm leaning towards Lepista nuda (wood blewit) which is quite a variable species. A pale pink spore print would confirm this ID. Incidentally the delicious variety I grow on my woodchip beds produces specimens just like the one in your photo.

I thought of blewit, too, but wondered about the gill attachment.
