My rabbit foot fern is getting stringy

I need to know if it would be better for the plant if I cut off some or all of the really long 'legs' and let it start over producing the feet. I've had this plant for almost as long as I have had my children and they are grown! Thanks for any help.

that's what i do with mine . Tends to end up with more foots than leaves though yours still looks pretty good. You can start some new ones with the cuttings gary
