I'm trying to encourage moss to grow in our garden & have begun by filling a big pot with a mix of compost, dried spaghnum peat moss and Vermiculite, putting bits of moss I collect on the surface, keeping it watered and covered by clear plastic. Assuming it thrives I'm going to move it to the places where I want moss. Here's a picture of one of the bits of moss. Does anybody know what variety of moss it is?
