Moss, Ferns & Cryptogams

What is this?

My friend has this plant which is brown until it receives moisture (she sprayed it lightly with water)and then it greens up in less than a minute. She lives in Collier County (Naples) Florida out in Golden Gates Estates close to the Big Cypress area. Any info. would be appreciated.

You've got a moss of some kind. Doesn't look like a species I've seen before, though.

Probably one of the selaginella mosses? There are a few that behave in that manner. One is even called the resurrection moss. (Different from resurrection fern.)
