Do I need to hang my staghorn fern?

Hello!

I have a staghorn fern in a basket of moss, but instead of the fern hanging down through the wires of the basket, it sticks up out of the top of the basket as though it were potted in it. It looks healthy now. Will it be alright for it to stay this way. I hate to tear it up unless I really have to.

That's actually a great way to grow them. What will happen is.. small "pups" will form all around the outside of the basket and grow into a big ball of stag.

I would agree especially if you can't keep the humidity up and as moist as necessary. Makes them much easier to water also. gary
