I suspect that the agressive root system might break out of the coir liner after a few months. You might try posting this in the Container Forum or Houseplant Forum. It's not a fern, rather Asparagus meyeri.

I've not grown the foxtail but have experience with other asparagus ferns. I'd put it in a solid container. But get other opinions from the other forums.
