Easy fern propagation

Wow, it was easy! Ram's Head Soft Shield Fern, Polystichum setiferum rotumdatum. The description says that baby ferns can form from the little nodules along the frond if the frond lays down and touches soil. I was collecting spores of other ferns and this one had none so I cut a frond with plenty of the little bumpy nodules (I'm sure there's a fern word for them) and then cut them into pieces, one nodule per piece, pressed lightly into a light potting soil, misted and covered with plastic. Babies formed in less than 2 wks! Decided to do more but then took the easy way out and just now pinned a leaf to the ground, still attached to the fern and I'll see what forms from that. Try it, it will make you feel like you're a talented fern propagator!
