| I'm thinking of ordering a mushroom kit from plow and hearth and wondering if anyone has any luck with the kits? I was going to get it for a gift for a family friend. They offer a choice of portabella, oyster, and white button. |

| I tried growing a kit a few years ago. I followed the instructions as best as possible, but it still died. Later, I found out that I should'nt have watered it with tap water. Should have been rain water only. Nothing in the instructions said that. Our tap water contains small amounts of chlorine in order to prevent growth of bacteria, viruses, and fungi; and that apparently killed it. |

| Have tried the white button one, even used tap water to water it, had masses of fresh mushrooms for many, many months. Have been thinking of getting another one, and trying a portabella kit too good luck |
