Is copper wire bad for my staghorns?

| I am wondering about copper wire being bad for my staghorn ferns.
Does the wire need to be removed? I can cut it away, since the ferns are now attached to the board and the moss. |

| If they are plastic coated, it is ok, otherwise it may have detrimental effects as it corrodes and dissolves. |
