'goblin fern'

Yesterday in the St. Loius Post Dispatch, they ran a story about goblin fern found in the far northern forests of Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan. Dr. Jeffrey Bonner said it is called goblin because it hides in the leaf litter of the forest floor. Tried a couple of sources and can't find it. Anyone know what it is and what it looks like. Can I grow it in Missouri?
