growing Platycerium and Pyrossia from spores

Hi all,

I've never tried propagating ferns from spores.

I'd particularly like to get Platyceriums and Pyrossia going from spore.

I'm looking at species like P.andinum, P.willincki, P.veitchii var. lemoinei, P.aclicorne, P.stemmaria, P.ridleyi and P.madagascariensis.

What is the best method to follow to obtain the best results?

Thanks in advance.

RE: growing Platycerium and Pyrossia from spores

I found a little bit of info on staghorn ferns at this website: www.platyceriumferns.com
I'm trying it with some new spores. There is also info from an Aussie site, do a google search. Staghorns are native to Australia.
Have not tried Pyrossia from spore, but here in New Zealand they grow on lots of the trees naturally, and i often take pieces to colonize a new tree, but they are slow to start again. Now am using pieces that are already attached to a bit of bark or rotten wood, and with live moss attached. My hope is that they will get back into spore production and spread more without further help from me.
