Lilliput Zinnia

I raised some Peppermint Stick Zinnias last year that were pretty. I also tried some Cactus Zinnias. Those were very unusual. I bought the seed from edenbrothers.com.

Don't grow persian carpet, their necks are not that strong.

Oklahoma for small - don't try lilliput, they are too time comsuming for cutting ( and not a good use of space) - Peppermint Twist/Candy Cane (same thing) and Zowie are worth while and cool. IMHO your time and flower growing space is too precious to be concentrating on one florist and their requests for Zinnias. Grow what sells to all your customers ! Cheers - Kim BFFF

Kim, I think you have a good point about not worrying too much about any one customer. In this case, the florist is a very good customer and a friend, so I'll be trying to accommodate her as much as I can.

Cut and Come Again are nice. About 2.5" flower on stems long enough to cut. Although large flowers, some more unusual colors are Queen Red Lime, Tequila Lime, and Pop Art. White Wedding is a large dahlia-type flower which you do not see too much. The cactus-type zinnias are lovely, too.

Some of the smaller zinnias in both flower diameter and plant height that are nice are Mexican Zinnias (like Jazzy) and Single-Flowered Zinnias (Like Starlight, Raspberry Lemonade, and Pinwheel). However, these are more bedding/border plants since their stems are too short and branched to be cut and placed in a vase. They may work if placed in a formal arrangement using florist foam.

Thanks for the additional suggestions, Zinnia1. I'm going to definitely try the Cut and Come Again and some of the cactus-flowered ones.
