Lily of the Valley are popular in bouquets, and demand for stems is increasing. It is a standard in bridal bouquets. About six weeks ago we received some culture information about forcing convallaria. Because the pips require pre-chilling, we can order in the rhizomes from our local vendor every week or two for forcing. They require 8 weeks of growing at 61 degree temperatures. Vase life in a bouquet is 7-10 days if the flowers have been hydrated.

Yes, they do last a week or more. I made the most lovely bouquet in a tea cup and saucer using wet oasis/foam, leaves and flower stems packed in closely. I made holes in the foam first, using a pencil. What a breath-taking gift it would make! But I did NOT part with it.

I have some sitting on my nightstand. They do last a week or so. Wish they bloomed for a longer time period though....

My ground grown finally showed through. They are skimpy but the day is still young. However the potted specimens are doing well but only
produced a few stems of those delightful flowers.
