colors on snapdragons

| Just wondering if anyone would care to give me some feedback on their thoughts on the formula mixes for 'rocket' and 'spring giant' snapdragons.
Last year my rocket mix had ALOT of a dirty colored looking
rose...which I didn't really care for. What has everyone
else seen in their rocket mix? Or do you go for the single color selections?
Also, I want to order out the spring giant snaps...anyone tried that mix...or have some thoughts on the color schemes in this series?
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

| Hi - my rocket mix last year didn't have lots of colors either...white, pink, rose, burgandy, some yellow. I also grew Costas which were similar. This year I'm trying single colors. We'll see how it goes. (these are field grown, however, so the options aren't as great as hoophouse varieties). Check out Gloeckner's catalog for lots of great colors in other varieties. Wendy |

I just order the single colors of rocket. You can't go wrong with plenty of white, but I also order yellow, pink and red. However, I've had a nasty little bug the last couple of years on my snaps that has prevented them from doing their best. I haven't been able to identify the bug, but it's in the stink bug family. If you smash one with your fingers it smells like cilantro. I haven't used that herb in 2 years! Cheryl |

| I also order straight colors only. It makes it alot easier for cutting. In order from the top down are White, Yellow, Orchid and Red. I have too many other pinks. Bryan |

| The Rocket mix I planted last year had a real nice mix of colours - pale yellow and a beautiful clear bright yellow, light and dark pink, red, burgundy, a mottled peach, and white. I'm growing them again this year but am also trying Ribbon mix to see if there's much difference. |

| Spring Giants stem and flower size are awesome. Everything about them is much bigger and better than Rockets. The colours are excellent, especially the Orange - gorgeous. I just don't bother growing Rockets anymore. Cheers Kim - BFFF |

| Kim, (BFFF) Where do you get your seeds for the Spring Giants? I've been dying to try them! Also, do you plant them at twelve weeks or at ten? I would love to find that I had time to try them this year!! Write back soon? |
