Crimson king maple cuttings

Is late March too late or should I have attempted cuttings from a Crimson king maple last fall?
I also have an Empire apple tree I'm considering playing with now too. |

Perhaps you misunderstood the title of this forum...it is for cut flowers...therefore, the cutting garden forum...maybe you want the plant propagation forum???
Or, for the apple tree, the orchard forum might be the place to go.
