 o
cosmos apricot--why so rare?

I have been trying to limit my palette in my garden to pinks, reds and apricots, with white for a little change here and there, since last year (it's difficult-have to get rid of a lot of cannas, rudbeckia and coreopsis).

So one of the most lovely cosmos I've ever seen is a Cosmos Apricot which incorporates those colors, but nobody is selling seeds. The only thing I've seen is Annie's Annuals--she sells the plants - one annual for $5.95 (JEEZ).

Does anybody have a clue what gives with this?
thanks, Rose.

RE: cosmos apricot--why so rare?

This cosmos comes on very late. In my garden it was a very odd color, not a nice apricot but a lavender pink with bronzy blush. It was an odd color that did not stand out well in any bouquet and was hard to match to other flowers. However, it did go strongly until an actual hard frost...I think we used it into mid November. It wa actually very prolific once it started. I think I bought the seeds from Germania. I actually like Campus yellow a lot better. It was also very late but the flowers were a pale sulfer yellow that mixed nicely with other flowers.
