I have four strawflower plants. Got 'em at the garden center, they are putting out flowers like crazy. Unfortunatly, the stems are almost non-existant, they are no taller than the crown itself. I was hoping they'd be good cutting flowers (have six other strawflower plants I started myself, but they are still tiny) Can I do anything to improve stem length?

The ones from the garden center could very well be a dwarf variety - did the tag have a name, or just 'strawflowers'?

It just refered to them as strawflowers, no cultivar. Did say they could get over two feet tall though, that's why I grabbed them. Wish I'd saved the tag now.
