Kat - there's a green one that fades to a mustard-light gold...don't know if that's the same thing. I got some seeds a few years ago from Select Seeds and the green wasn't like the brighter green, but it was still useful in fall arrangements. I still like the red better!

Wendy, thanks for the input. I had suspected that it wouldn't be quite as dramatic as I had hoped. I will plant this one plant and see what happens. I also love the red and have planted 22 plants. I hope my customers love it as much!!! Thanks again. Kat

It might have been "Giant Copperhead" or "Hot Biscuits." I've grown "Hot Biscuits" from Johnny's seeds and liked it.

Hi neil allen, thanks for the input. I have not heard about 'Giant Copperhead', great name. I will look it up. I thought 'Hot Buscuits' was an upright variety, I have not grown it because I read that it gets really big, my friend assures me that this plant she gave me is a weeping (for lack of a better word) amaranth. "Hot Biscuits" does get around 4 feet tall. Like some other tall varieties, though, after you harvest the main head you'll find smaller, "weeping" stems growing from the lower leaf axils.
