The Cutting Garden

What seeds can still be direct sown outdoors for cutting garden?

For a variety of reasons, I haven't gotten around to diect sewing my sunflowers, alyssum, zinnias, bachelor buttons....etc... Is it too late for any of the above? I could do it on Friday but it seems late. My last frost date was May 15th. Maybe it's still ok?? Last year I had beautiful blooms in early July. I guess that won't happen this year!

We do a great deal of succession planting in Zone 5. We will plant last sunflowers (Sunrich series) around July 15. We just did our last planting of zinnias yesterday. I'd get the bachelor buttons in soon. ; )

Definitely not too late.
Don't forget some cosmos. :)

IMHO, it is too late for Bachelor's Buttons but the rest are OK, especially the sunflowers. Fine for cosmos and zinnias too.
