RE: Favorite Hydrangeas For Cutting?

My hydrangeas are just old enough to really produce this year and n ot quite mature enough to pick! However, I had some outstanding bouquets from my oakleaf hydrangea last year when the foliage was in Autumn color. I know I also like Limelight a lot. This year I will have some pretty blues!

Hi: My very old lacecap hydrangea is a big seller for me. I find it sells well on its own. Most customer are not familiar with it which makes it interesting to them and the deep blue tone is an eye-catcher. SusanM

Hydrangea Paniculata (a Peegee type) is the Victorian favorite featured in printed fabics. They make wonderful wreaths! Pick 10 large heads when they are just beginning to blush maroon (around September in zone 6). This is the point at which they no longer need water in the vase and will preserve themselves as they dry, and lasts for a year or more. Wired to a wreath form, they take your breathe away! Priceless work of art.
