I have a large order for a wedding this weekend, today is Thursday, it is raining, more rain in the forcast for Friday. Can I cut in the rain, has anyone ever used a fan to dry wet flowers, any advice would be appreciated!

Admittedly, I still have a lot to learn, but when I have a market the next day, I cut, rain or shine. Sitting inside overnight seems to get them dry by the next morning. ThinMan

Interesting that this question hasn't come up earlier, especially with the wet weather in so many areas this year! Thinking back, I guess I was lucky enough to be able to cut when it was not raining, even if it was just little pockets of dryness on a rainy day, but yes, I think I cut at least once or twice in the rain. Keep in mind I am a grower on a small scale. The bigger problem for me was having blooms that weren't damaged by the rain. This spring was literally a wash-out for me. :) Dee

So, how did your wedding turn out, Upson? Any problems with wet flowers? TM

Just got an email from the florist, everything looked great, she ordered 80 soraya sunflowers for pails to line the aisles, and 50 bouquets for the tables at the reception, she was pleased so I am happy and relieved. I did hang a large box fan and lightly blow air on to the flowers, it did seem to dry them although it may have not been necessary, like you said they may have been fine drying on thier own. Thanks for your advice...

Cool. I'm sure the fan was a good insurance policy and I'm glad it turned out well for you. I hope your stress level has eased back down to normal now.
