Your ideas for vertical blooms

| I am at the end of my liatris, have very few left of a lovely tall white lobelia, am waiting with stomping feet for glads to open and wondered what other tall narrow blooms people grow. I have plenty of snaps, but I'm more interested in a very vertical bloom in really just about any color.
Any favorites? |

| Oh my, your glads are just starting..or haven't yet? Is this unusally late or just the cooler zone you are in? TRying to think here....Tall snapdragons...Lion's tales (Though no one will buy them...silly people! I love †hem with rudbeckias...You know , I can't really think of much,,my glads are my work horse "verticals". WE have been using glads for about a month. Do you have montbretia? At least †that gives a different look. Mine is almost past now. I use a lot of "Honeybee White" hyssop (Korean Mint) for both fragrance and spikyness. Do you have any verbascums? I have a tall creamy white one I started from seed about 4 years ago that has self seeded and keeps me with some on hand most of the time. |

| Thanks for your ideas Liza. I've had two glads open. Buds are forming daily, but they are slow- the whole season has been slow here. I have crocosmia- it's done or waning. The agastache looks great, although very similar to the white lobelia I have. Love the smell of those leaves! Perhaps I need to get to a nursery and just poke around some. Will check out verbascum online as well. Have you checked your email? |

Some callas get pretty tall, and this year I planted some single and double tuberose because of what I read here. Wow, the singles are in bloom and boy are they fragrant. I'd say they're about 18" and not very wide. Crocosmia are tall too, and make a great accent. susan |

| Vertical blooms, The ones I think of are Bells, HiZ Celosia, Delphinium, Millets, Larkspur, Lupine, Snaps, Stock and Veronica. If color or bloom does not matter, try boxwood, dogwood, curlywillow. |

Bryan thanks for the list. And Honeybunny as well. Yes I love crocosmia, but it's done here. Tuberose I'll have to look up. My hunt for Celosia hi Z led to this little page- lots to look at there. Thank you both. |
