planting blocks rather then rows??

| I am considering sowing things like bachelor's buttons, agrostemma, and baby's breath this fall so that I can get an early start on them and maybe beat some of the weeds in the spring. I would like to scatter the seed in blocks instead of rows in my raised beds as these flowers have such easily knocked down stems. What do you all think? Is this a bad idea? Will I end up with a bad weed problem that I will not be able to fix? What other things can I sow in the fall to get an early start in the spring? |

| I allowed my agrostemma to self sow last year and left my raised bed in a tangle, literally! They were absolute Hell to harvest. I have found that rows with support netting, mid way up to prevent the crossed stems (which will happen occasionally anyway) is a better way to go. IMHO, Kat |
