We're having a problem cutting snapdragons and cosmos, re-cutting under water, transfering them to preservative water, no matter how carefull. So what's the secret?..Doug

RE: Delicate stems

Assuming by preservative water, you mean a home-made recipe. In our humidity, we find that snapdragons are happier in just plain water. And, the cosmos do best in a hydrating solution. The home-made solution isn't a hydrator however. Also, the first cuttings of cosmos tend to be more limp than the later ones. Stems seem to be stronger as the season begins to wane.
