sweetpeas not flowering

Hi,
We planted our sweetpeas just before winter. Now we're half way through Spring and they are growing really well. They're huge and look really healthy. But only 2 flowers..Is this something to worry about, or is it just still a bit early for them to bloom properly?
Thanks very much,
Lucy

RE: sweetpeas not flowering

We seem to be running a couple of weeks behind at the moment with all that cold weather that's been coming up from the south.

I notice that the little weed vetches are out now but the various sorts of sweet pea that were, like yours, planted before winter are still making growth and buds but not into flowers yet.

Some are the old-fashioned bi-colours which self sow and some are the children of a packet of 'Mr Fothergill'. Not sure where the Hammett varieties are up to, if that's what you've planted.
