Stellyvonne- first bloom. It's really nicer than this photo, honest. Fluffy palest yellow with tiniest hint of lav or pink on ends.
Will go well with Cameo a pale yellow waterlily now open. And my thanks to Christine for sharing this and Koinonia.
Koinonia ( who thought of that name, and why?) It's a short little fellow, could be the weather, but this first bloom is lovely. Less than 3 inches across, deep purple under and med purple on petal surfaces. I'm really a sucker for purple.
Compare it to Lauren Michelle with that same underpetal/top of petal coloration trend.
and last, a retry of Mosaic, an old dahlia who did not do well in my garden last year. Much more magenta and variegated petals a la Blackberry Ripple. It has much better sun this year.

An update on Stellyvonne: on the far right here, because I miss having flowers to look at!
And a later season bloom showing true colors.

Don't know if I posted a photo of "Seattle" before- it's a lovely, rich yellow with white tips and the tiniest border of peachy pink where those two colors meet. Early season:
With others
But look what happened very late in the last cutting of the season Mid November; the peachy color just took over. Love this flower. Unfortunately the tubers were not cooperative, but I have a small clump and perhaps one cut off tuber that I will try to save. Otherwise, available in nurseries. Two Seattles in front, lower left here:

And here it is in a bouquet with more pinky blooms: it almost has a blue cast compared to them here. Kari Blue upper left

And compared to some lavender/lilac and purple cousins: Kari Blue on the right, clockwise from it are Camano choice, Lavender Athalie, Lilac Time then up to the reddish Jennifer's Wedding which is truly a rich purple, then to the purple ball Mingus Wallace above Kari blue.

Hi Poochella, love the pics, just thought I'd attempt to answer your question regarding the meaning of Koinonia. Koinonia is an ancient Greek word, it's primary meaning is "fellowship, sharing in common, communion, a special time set aside for close fellowship/friendship. The first occurrence of Koinonia in the Scriptures is Acts 2:42, which refers to the devotion of the early church to the teaching of the Apostles, to fellowship, to breaking of bread and prayer." Christian fellowship (Koinonia) is a necessary facet of a believers life, for the expression of mutual love, encouragement and unity before God. cactuspolecat |

Thanks cactuspolecat. Funny you should post because just within the last week I saw a very similar reference to the origin of the word Koinonia online and thought "Aha!" Thanks for educating us. |
