| Greetings!
I am about to make some dahlia purchases for my very small garden and only have space for about eight plants. I am thinking about purchasing "Fuzzy Wuzzy" from Swan Island, but when I look at other photos of the flowers, they look very washed out and pale pink. Images from SI show a deep bubblegum pink flower with white tips. I stay away from pink pastels in my garden and am wondering if anyone here has experience growing this variety. If so, how did they look - rich pink or pastel (photos are encouraged)? Did you find much variation in the consistency of the white at the tips? They will be growing in full sun, southern exposure. Thanks in advance for your replies. They are very much appreciated. -Kim

Lucky you: I have managed to kill Fuzzy Wuzzy 3x and after that, I just give up. It's not Fuzzy Wuzzy, it's our cold, wet spring soil to blame. So, I can't answer from firsthand experience, but I have seen the flowers in person and every photo I see of them is far from pastel pink: more a nice medium to fairly rich pink with cute little frizzy tips! I think you should try it.

Kim, check the Dahlia Society of Georgia's website for heat tolerant dahlias before you make your choices. A lot of dahlias hate our heat and humidity, but thrive in the Pacific northwest. Allie

Hello, I have had experience growing Fuzzy Wuzzy and have given all of these bulbs away. Fuzzy Wuzzy is a medium pink with a smaller flower and not very showey in the garden. In a small garden as you describe, I would want to purchase dahlias that have larger flowers but still grow to only about 36 inches. Hope that this helps! Paula

Thanks for your responses. I decided against purchasing Fuzzy and will try some pom-poms instead. I am still deciding on a few others as well. I can't wait to see them bloom!
