Its a snow day

About 40 yrs ago my wife brought home some dahlia tubers and granted me planting privileges. I never got serious about dahlias although I saw them at the gladiolus shows. Few years back I was visiting friend in Colville Washington. He took me across town to the dahlia garden of Roy Barton. Wow!! I was hooked. Next spring they sent me a box of tubers. I( got on computer and learned how to do it the right way. it paid off. I won the dahlia show at the Maryland State Fair last fall. Kiara Pompadour a complete surprise. While we are snowed in here in Maryland I would from time to time like to comment on some of the good and some of the sorry dahlias I grow. Last year the most beautiful dahlia in my garden was Just Married. Took me three years to acquire stock of this and it was worth the wait. this tuber came from an unknown grower in Spokane. I believe it's vigor will increase when I take it back to Washington State this year. Got about 3 1/2 ft tall. Not heavy foliage. mid-season bloomer, then bloomed till frost. Great color and looked great in bouqets. Would score this a 9. Thank you for listening today. Steve S ps I liked it the first time I saw it.

Dahlia 'Just Married' was a favorite of mine last summer as well. A real beauty that was welcome in a very difficult growing season.

Here is a link that might be useful: Dahlia 'Just Married'
