Last year was my first experience with dahlias. I divided the clumps in the Fall with the help of all the advice on this forum. I just received an order from Eden Bros. The bulbs arrived in large undivided clumps complete with roots. Many clumps have multiple sprouts on a single stem. Should I go ahead and divide the clumps by slicing the stem so that each sprout is attached to one or more bulbs and discard the rest of the clump? Since I plan to start them indoors should I let the cut stem dry before planting in pots?
