 o
Dahlia ..grass?!

This started to grow out of my dahlia tubers like a month after I planted them in a greenhouse. Eventually I decided to investigate (dug up the pot, threw away the tubers because they were rotting) and saved this..it has it's own root system. I have no idea what it is. Looks like grass! Any ideas? Or is it part of my dahlia. it grows very quickly

It's definitely not a dahlia. Looks like a grass type weed to me, I'd send it to the compost pile.

Do you feed the birds? This looks like wheat or some other cereal. Deffo nothing to do with dahlias.

It looks like a very invasive weed grass we get here.. I would suggest you NOT put it in your compost pile. This one should be bagged and destroyed.

It's a nice looking grass plant, though!

But since you already verified that the dahlia root has rotted, then you can use that pot for something else besides the grassy plant.
