I screwed up!

I am a dahlia newbie, last summer I was given 3 plants as gifts. I dug them in the fall, dropped them into paper bags and kept them in my basement. I decided today was time to plant them in pots. I took out my clumps and said "OH look at all these nice bulbs" broke or cut them off the stem and planted them all. When I got to the last (the smallest clump, I noticed growth from the stem!! Uh oh! I came to the computer and started researching.

Except for the last one, which I cut the stem in half and planted tubers and all. Did I just loose the Dahlias I that I planted only the tuber parts of?

I shoulda known to research first! But they looked like such nice plump bulbs.

Thanks

Jenny P
