Watering Instructions

I got my tubers a week or so ago and planted as instructed, but instructions also say not to water them till the tubers have sprouted to a heighth of 4-6 inches.

I'm in zone 9a/b Northern Calif. and we haven't had rain for a few weeks now and with temps going up everyday that soil is getting pretty dry. Decisions, decisions! I have 4 tubers from last year that have broken ground, about 4 inches tall, so I have started watering them. What is your advice?

water them all if the soil is dry but don't over water.
