When to plant dahlias in Maryland?

I'm curious, when is an ideal time to plant dahlias in Maryland? I've heard varying answers and I'm kinda confused as to when it would be the best. I bought some antique varieties and I'm wanting to make sure they do well, so if anything I'm being prudent. Any suggestions?
