dahlia tuber question

Hi!

We have purchased a ton of tubers from the vancouver dahlia society. They are all very healthy and I'm so excited!
Most of them have sprouted already and lot's have almost 3 inches of sprout. The sprouts are wrapped around the tuber though since they are in tiny little ziplock bags stacked on top of each other. They aren't in any way pointing up is what i mean.

So what I am wondering is will the dahlia find it's way up? Do you advise cutting the sprout back too 2 inches maybe? Apart from the lucky tubers I have potted up the rest won't be in the ground till mid may! yikes..I have opened all the bags so they have some air but perhaps there is a better way to keep them until planting time?????

I appreciate any advice very very much!
