Heat Damage

Hi I still had my d's in pots waiting to go in the ground when we had the mother of all heat waves strike, it has been 100 three days straight. On the first day, all my shoots withered and browned-look dead. They were only about 1-3 inches tall at that point.
what do I do?
Should I pinch them off and hope they sprout new ones?
Thanks!
April

RE: Heat Damage

Bummer! Yes, I would pinch them off. Depending on where the damage is, pinch them either at the base of the shoot (1/16 of an inch above the tuber) or just above a healthy leave node. They should recover nicely. I would also keep them a bit shaded for a while to protect the tender new growth.
