Needs ID - is it even a dahlia?!?

I planted several Crazy Love bulb clumps about two months ago, now (early-mid April), but we also got a puppy around the same time and he dug up some of the tubers. This has popped up near where I planted a clump, but it sure doesn't look like any of the other starts of Crazy Love. In fact, I don't think it looks like a dahlia at all. The stem is too thin, and it's not as fleshy.

It appears to have a compound leaf structure, and the main stem is fairly strong. The small leaves off of the main offshoots are tinged red with new growth. I have a wisteria growing at about the same level, maybe even shorter, nearby, but it has not flowered as it is still working on getting tall. I had taken one of the tubers from the clump that the puppy tore up and placed it in the ground just to see what would happen. Do you suppose this is the growth from the single tuber finger?
