My stepdaughter got me a little Dahilia for Mother's Day and I potted it up. I think it has regular roots and it is blooming but the leaves are shriveling up. It is hot here so I am watering it on a regular basis. Could it be a thing of not enough or too much water? I do not know what to do and needless to say it has sentimental meaning. Does anyone have a idea as to what may be wrong? I know nothing about these plants! Thanks!

That could be the problem. How often are you watering? What is the temp where you are? Is it in Full Sun? Is there enough drainage so that it isn't rotting and sitting in water? All of these are questions you have to ask yourself. Let us know and we can help you. Sue

bpgardener, it is getting evening sun, watered every day or so because temps are in the 80's and draiage should be okay. It is blooming alright I think! Thanks!

I've got a couple that are shrivelling as well. Fortunately, I have a few others that I can replace the "sick" plant with. They are mixed in with many others that are getting the same treatment, and loving it, so who knows why these two are shrivelling. In my garden, only the tough survive. The others become compost.
