Last year I thought I would try some of the new single types of dahlias in my personal garden rather then my cutting garden, so I COuld let them make great sprays of color for fall. My ducks made short work of them when they discoverd that they liked the leaves really really well! I was hoping against hope that the tubers would remain and sprout again this year and it has happened! DH and I Just caged 5 of them and I need to go buy another roll of the wire. But now they have eaten the buds and flowers off the asiatic lilies planted among my roses :-( Can't win for loosing but it keeps us thinking how to outwit them...they are good at their profession of slug control. I think by next summer their will be a duck high fence seperating the flower garden from the orchard and they can summer in the orchard after wintering in the rose/perennial garden.

WHat fun it will be to see what I have when these bloom! I think some of them were new ones I had never seen.
