I just bought a vanessa plant at lowes, and it already has a couple of beautiful blooms on it. The thing is, it is only about 20 inches tall or so, but says it will grow to be 48 inches. Will it still grow that tall even though it is already flowering?

Yes, it should continue growing. I start mine in pots and some bloom in the pots before I set them out but by the end of the season they are quite large plants.
