My First Dahlias !

I am a first time grower of dahlias. Here is a photo of one of my first dahlias to bloom. You can see other photos on my blog - the link is below (it's easier to load photos on my blog than here because I have to load on photobucket first and then here).

Please don't ask the names, the tags faded and I can't read them unfortunately. I bought them at Costco just to see if I could grow them. So far so good - I love them. I have them planted in raised bins with composted soil, with ground cover cloth and bark to help retain the moisture. I fertilized them once with flower and vegetable food (low nitrogen).

Wow! I love the purple one! Looks great! This is my first year with Dahlias too, and mine haven't bloomed yet. I'm in zone 9, texas. I planted about 6 weeks ago, and they seem to be growing nicely, should start budding any day now, I hope! Thanks for sharing your pics.
