We've had a rough summer so far here in the Northeast. No rain for 2 weeks plus scorching temps. Friends and family have dahlias blooming but I'm still waiting. The first picture is from last Friday 7/16 and I thought, "Finally, only a few more days!" The second photo is today 7/22 and I think I'll still be waiting a few more days for this guy to be fully open.

Grr!

PS sorry the pictures are so gigantic!

Oh my gosh, you made me laugh so hard....Best post yet!

I feel your pain, I have been staring and my Brugmansias 'motivating' them to bloom as well. At least you have buds! Bummer about the weather. 20 miles north of me have been hit with record rain fall, record temps and 2 tornados, but I have had less than a half an inch in July and no bad weather, just hot and humid!

Happy gardening and I can't wait till he opens for you!

Here it is today. Now, if only I knew what it was...passionate or midnight dancer I'm thinking. Though I'm leaning toward passionate.

I am with you nh, Just got my first bloom this week from a Lorio Diablo my favorite. Have had wind and sun all summer. No rain. Of course I thought dahlias liked that so I was surprised when they weren't blooming in June????
