What a lovely crowded chaotic garden. Is almost everything in pots? That Chilson's Pride is especially nice.

Yes everything is in pots. Even the things behind this garden are in pots which have been barried to the rims. I am now deciding if I should make more wooden pots or planters or just start digging more holes to put pots in.

What size pots do you use? I have never had one bloom in a pot. Do you put gravel in the bottom for drainage? Peat and compost? Pat

The smallest pot I use is 12inches. Some of my pots are huge. You have seen my pictures before PDSHOp. Some of my old dahlias grew to almost 9 foot. I remember Oregon rain used to tower over my van that was parked in the drive way. I do put stones in the bottom of my pots for drainage. I use miricalgrow planting soil that I get at Sam's club. It is light enough for pots and the tubers grow in it like crazy.

I see that you are in Long Island, I am on Staten Island. I also do all my dahlias on containers because the clay is like concrete, and very hard for me to make holes. I am new here, but, I shall be posting some of my pictures, when I learn how to. Your dahlias are awesome........

Thanks for looking and commenting. Dahlias do well in our neck of the woods. I will be starting way more early next year now that I will have more tubers to store over the winter.
