| I recently bought a "Mystic Desire" dahlia..I am wondering if I should go ahead and plant it in my garden or should I wait until fall since it is hot & humid,etc? I don't want to stress it out...so I am asking you guys for help?

| If I had just found a dahlia at this time of year, I would most certainly plant it, because I know that it very probably would not survive as an individual tuber in the hot weather without being planted. Remember, dahlias like warmth and good soil. It may not bloom for you, but surely it would give the plant a chance to develop its roots and tubers for survival through winter. I would also make sure it gets fed adequately for the rest of the summer. I hope that helps, Beca. |

| I recently moved from Everett, WA to San Diego, CA. Can I grow Dahlias here? What type would be suggested and when and where to plant them. We don't get frost here... |

| Everett might as well BE San Diego given our heatwave in WA this week. It hit 102 an hour ago, cooling off nicely to 100 now :( Here is the contact info listed at www.dahlias.net for the San Diego Dahlia Society.
