Crichton Honey (BBBA): 4" diameter flower on a 30" bush.
Bitsy (BBWL): 4" diameter flower on an 18" bush. Meanwhile, we had a storm the other day and it did a fair bit of damage. (you can see it better if you follow the link.) Unfortunately, those stakes you see were put there after the storm...;-[ (panorama via autostitch.)

| Very nice Russ. |
|
| Great pictures, what is the name of the Lake? |
|
| Nice work, Russ. I like the way you include the name and description under each. Good for that inventory. It would be good for my short memory. |

| I'm on Sturgeon Lake, near Lindsay ON, hence my nom de plume...;-] The water I can see is called "Goose Bay" and is listed as swamp on maps, but its actually got the best fishing, and most abundant wildlife on the entire lake (probably because I'm right beside Ken Reid Conservation Area.) John, I do that because I like terracing my Dahlias back from my viewpoint. IOWs, small up front, taller as you move further away. I often see pictures of Dahlias I think are amazing flowers, only to find out they wouldn't fit in with my layout because they're too tall. Meanwhile, pictures often don't give you a good sense of just how big a flower is (unless you're PlantLady2008!) I really do need to get myself a macro lens to do them justice. Cheers, |

| I took a better picture of the lake. Note, this is a 180 degree panorama from my back door (or as shoreline owners say, "front" door.) Cheers, |

| I managed to get better pictures of both flowers, with rain drops...;-] FYI, for anyone trying to get good tight shots but finding they're blurry, you may not need a macro lens. I found out that my minimum focus distance was 20" (in the camera manual.) So I make sure I take a non-zoomed picture at that distance. Then I go into my photo editing software and just crop everything but the flower out, and bingo, it looks like it was taken with a macro lens (I think, anyway.) Cheers, |
