Why are my dahlia leaves turning light green?

This is my first year growing dahlias and I hope someone with more experience can help me. I have several large dahlias in pots on my cement patio. They get watered daily and recieve about 8-9 hours of sun. I have fertilized them a couple of times with a 0-10-10.
Recently the foliage has started to turn a light green and the buds that were forming are growing very slowly. It seems to be the whole plant, not just certain leaves. Does this mean the plant is not getting enough nitrogen? We have had some pretty hot weather here recently, and I wonder if that could be the problem. Please help, it had such beautiful flowers a month ago and now I worry that I may lose it.

Dahlias need some nitrogen and that should cure the problem. You want to cut the nitrogen out in the fall unless you don't receive any rain then some nitrogen would be appropriate.
Growing in pots and watering everyday will deplete the nutrients faster then in the ground so they require more fertilizer.
