| Since I am in the mood for the fall weather to begin I made a bouquet today with fall colored dahlias (Garden Wonder, Ala Mode, and Akita)and added some seed heads from purple fountain grass and basil (which smells delicious).

A bouquet to be proud of Linda.

What a lovely arrangement...I never would have thought to use basil, but it's perfect in there. I guess I won't see my Akita bloom this year. I only got down in the mud yesterday to read tags on plants that had blooms, and I didn't find that one. I'm envious of yours!

Akita does have pretty flowers but I am kinda disappointed in the plant. The stems are weak and most of the time the flowers are hanging down. I have had a few nice blooms that are facing upwards though. I was out in the yard trying to find something to add to the bouquet. Most of my other non-dahlia plants are done blooming. I saw the flower spikes on the basil and figured that might work along with grass seed heads. I like it! Linda

Akita does need a lot of support, and stems are quite short. But it can throw some marvelous blooms.
